The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic & Student Affairs here at the University of Ghana and the Chairperson of the 26th GUSA Games, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo wishes all athletes the best and hopes that the University would be successful in hosting a casualty free GUSA games. She said this after her tour of the sports facilities and meeting some of the Sub-Committees and Volunteers for the sporting competition.

The 26^th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games kicks off today on the campus of University of Ghana (UG). The much anticipated Games dubbed Legon 2020 will end on 19^th January, 2020.

The Games is under the distinguished patronage of Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice-Chancellor of University of Ghana. The Game is themed “Integrating Sport into Academia for Youth Empowerment and Development.”

The 2020 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games has been launched at a brief ceremony by the Local Organising Committee under the auspices of University of Ghana Sports Directorate. The occasion of the launch was also used to unveil the logo, theme song and mascot for the games to be hosted by the University of Ghana in January 2020 under the theme “Integrating Sports into Academia for Youth Empowerment and Development”.

Following on their track record in the history of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Championship, the University of Ghana Male Basketball Team on Saturday, 13th April, 2019 once again clinched the title for the fourth year running.

Participating Teams

The UPAC finals came off from Friday, 12th to Saturday, 13th April with eight (8) institutions competing for the trophy. UG was drawn in Group A with Takoradi Technical University, Koforidua Technical University and Catholic University College.

The Sports Directorate has presented awards to deserving sports men and women during the 2017/2018 academic year at a dinner ceremony on Friday, 27^th April, 2018. The ceremony was under the auspices of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, in honour of student athletes who have excelled within the academic year.
